Sports broadcaster Sanjana Ganesan has hit back at social media trolls for mocking young Angad Bumrah for his facial expressions while father Jasprit played for Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 27 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Ganesan said that their son is not a topic of entertainment.
"Our son is NOT a topic for your entertainment. Jasprit and I do everything in our power to keep Angad away from social media because the internet is a despicable, vile place to be and I completely understand the implications of bringing a child to a cricket stadium filled with cameras, but please understand that Angad and I were there to support Jasprit and nothing else," she wrote on her Instagram after Bumrah's four-wicket haul in MI's convincing win over LSG.
Ganesan is furious at social media trolls who used words like 'depression' used in relation to Angad who is a not ever two years old yet. Bumrah shared the story on his Instagram account as well.
“Throwing around words like trauma and depression in reference to a baby says so much about who we're becoming as a community and it's honestly really sad. You know nothing about our son, nothing about our lives and I request you to keep your opinions online true to that,” she added.
MI win big as Bumrah deliveries his best since return
Meanwhile, Bumrah registered his best bowling figures of the season. He broke LSG batting lineup's back with the wickets of South African batters Aiden Markram and David Miller. Then, he dismissed their finisher Abdul Samad and tailender Avesh Khan. He conceded 22 runs from his quota of four overs and helped MI bowl out LSG for 161 and win by 54 runs.
MI registered their fifth win on the trot. They reached the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table but were dethroned by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) who beat Delhi Capitals (DC) in the evening encounter on double-header Sunday.
Since his return from injury, Bumrah has played six games for MI and taken nine wickets at an average of 16. His economy rate is 7.50 runs per over.
