Story Highlights:

Ben Dwarshuis remained the top pick for PBKS in IPL 2026 auction

PBKS splurged Rs 4.40 crore on Ben Dwarshuis

Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered the IPL 2026 mini-auction with a very limited budget, with just Rs 11.50 crore purse, which was the second lowest among all ten franchises at the start of the bidding war. This led the team to maintain a quiet presence for a substantial period during the initial rounds. Their first major acquisition came in the accelerated round when they secured the services of Australian batting all-rounder Cooper Connolly for Rs 3 crore. Connolly was seen as a valuable addition to their squad. Later in the day, the Punjab franchise further bolstered their bowling options by successfully buying left-arm seamer Ben Dwarshuis for Rs 4.40 crore.

These targeted purchases were made after the franchise had opted for stability by retaining the vast majority of their roster ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. The team made very few changes to their core squad, with the most high-profile release being Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who had a disappointing and injury-hit 2025 season. Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis was also among those released by the Kings.
