The game between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is creating a series of record in their IPL 2026 clash, which is being currently played on Saturday, April 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Big feat for PBKS openers
While chasing a mammoth target of 265, PBKS' opening duo of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh got off to a flying start, registering an opening stand of 126 runs in the first seven overs. Interestingly, in the first six overs of the second innings, Priyansh and Prabhsimran gathered 116 runs to register the second highest powerplay score in the history of IPL. In 2024, SRH's Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma registered the highest score in powerplay of 125/0.

Notably, this turns out to be the highest powerplay score of the ongoing IPL 2026 season. At the last delivery of seventh over, Priyansh Arya lost his wicket after scoring 43 off 17 on Axar Patel's delivery. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav removed well-set Prabhsimran Singh after scoring wonderful 76 off 26.
At the time of writing, Punjab Kings require 82 runs off 41 balls to seal the game, with skipper Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera in the middle.
Blockbuster partnership between Rana and Rahul
Winning the toss, DC skipper Axar Patel chose to bat first against in-form Punjab Kings, which seemed to be an unusual decision at first but things looked completely changed after the end of first innings.
Losing Pathum Nissanka early in the game, KL Rahul and Nitish Rana bashed the opposition's bowling line up. Nitish Rana bagged 28 runs with four boundaries and two sixes in the 12th over bowled by Xavier Bartlett.
Rahul and Rana stitched a blockbuster stand of 220 runs off just 95 balls, which turned out to be a second-highest partnership in the history of the tournament. In the 2016 edition of IPL, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers's partnership of 229 runs against Gujarat Lions sit at the first place. Notably this is the first instance when DC batters forged a partnership of more than 200 runs.
