India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul is missing the Delhi Capitals (DC) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Monday.
KL Rahul is expecting his first child and got permission from the Delhi Capitals management to skip the match against his former franchise LSG. As per Cricbuzz, The Indian batter rushed back home to Mumbai on Sunday night upon learning that his wife, Athiya Shetty, could give birth at any moment.
"He has returned home to be with his wife, as the baby is expected any time. However, he is certain to be available for the team's next game," a family friend of Rahul told Cricbuzz.
The wicketkeeper batter will rejoin the DC squad for their second game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 30. While writing this copy, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants.
Earlier, before joining the squad Rahul trained in Mumbai under Abhishek Nayar, India's assistant coach, for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. DC spent INR 12 crore in the mega auction to bring KL Rahul after the wicketkeeper batter was released by his old franchise LSG.
