The mystery spinner for the Lucknow Super Giants had a dream come true on Sunday, April 6, when he met his idol and Kolkata Knight Riders star Sunil Narine at the Eden Gardens. The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was rescheduled for Tuesday, April 8, because of the city's Ram Navami celebrations. Digvesh, one of LSG's best finds of the season, is similar to Narine in his bowling style, with a variety of bowling options in his arsenal. He has taken six wickets in four games so far, and was named Player Of The Match during their victory over the Mumbai Indians.
When Rishabh Pant presented the young spinner to Narine on Sunday, he finally got to meet his idol. The KKR star was told by Nicholas Pooran that Digvesh often brings him up. Then Pooran asked the LSG spinner a question. When Digvesh takes a wicket, the West Indian questioned him about why he celebrates so much while Narine doesn't.
"He doesn't celebrate, why do you celebrate?" asked Pooran.
Digvesh gave a hilarious reply to it by saying, "I'm from Delhi."
Narine and others laughed at this. Pant joked that Digvesh is the 'ticket collector'Â and Narine is the 'wicket collector'.
Digvesh gave Narine credit for inspiring him to love bowling, and the youthful spinner stated that he aspires to adopt the KKR star's more aggressive mentality.
"Since the time I watched Sunil Narine bowl, I started enjoying my bowling. I want to be more attacking in terms of mindset like Sunil Narine has been over the years. He stays very calm in pressure situations and I want to work on that and be like that," said Digvesh.
