Riyan Parag made the bold declaration that he has always felt like the captain of the Rajasthan Royals since joining the franchise. Riyan was acquired by RR in 2018 and made his debut during the 2019 season, becoming a regular for the former champions since then. Last season, the Assam batsman was pushed up the order to No. 4 and had a significant impact with the bat. This season, he was awarded the captaincy for the first three games while Sanju Samson recovered from an injury. The 24-year-old is the seventh captain in RR's history.

After losing two games, Riyan earned his first win as captain of the team when they overcame CSK on Sunday in Guwahati. Speaking after the game, Riyan stated that he always felt like a leader, even though he was nowhere near becoming captain.
"When I first came in, I always felt like I was captaining the side even though I was nowhere close to being a captain," said Riyan.

The 24-year-old stated that every time he plays a game, he feels like the captain and is prepared for the task.
"Whenever you play a game, you feel you are the captain. You make the decisions regardless of whether you are the captain or not. I was prepared for this and really up for the challenge. Felt good leading in the game," said Riyan.
Riyan explained that the franchise allows people to establish themselves inside the squad.
"Thing with Rajasthan Royals is that someone comes in new, gets established at the Royals. I feel that's something, I would say growth, is something that differentiates the Royals from the rest," said Riyan.
