Rickelton took just 44 balls to complete his century

Ryan Rickelton has etched his name into the history books by smashing the fastest century ever recorded for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The previous record was shared by Tilak Varma and Sanath Jayasuriya, who both reached the milestone in 45 deliveries during the 2003 and 2008 seasons, respectively. Ryan Rickelton managed to eclipse their mark by just one ball, bringing up his incredible hundred in only 44 deliveries against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ryan Rickelton's historic ton against SRH

The explosive batter dominated the game from the outset, causing chaos for the opposition bowlers. He anchored the innings early on with a powerful 93-run opening partnership alongside Will Jacks. Even as wickets began to fall rapidly at the other end, Rickelton remained unfazed and maintained his aggressive approach.

Fastest ton for MI:

Mumbai Indians Players Balls taken for hundred
Ryan Rickelton 44 balls
Tilak Varma 45 balls
Sanath Jayasuriya 45 balls
Cameron Green 47 balls
Suryakumar Yadav 49 balls

Rickelton finished his historic innings with an unbeaten 123 runs off just 55 deliveries. This remarkable performance also established a new franchise record, surpassing all previous scores to become the highest individual total by a Mumbai Indians batter in the history of the IPL.

Powered by Rickelton’s explosive knock, Mumbai Indians posted a massive total of 243 runs in the first innings. Following the dismissal of Naman Dhir for 22, captain Hardik Pandya joined Rickelton in the middle and delivered a crucial performance. Pandya silenced recent critics by smashing 31 runs off 15 balls, effectively maintaining the team's scoring rate during a period where Rickelton appeared to be tiring.

After Pandya’s departure, Rickelton regained his momentum to finish the innings on a high note. His late-overs surge ensured that Mumbai reached a record-breaking total, the highest ever recorded in an IPL match at the Wankhede Stadium.
