Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT), legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, explaining the secret behind the bowler’s remarkable success this season.
The former World Cup winner highlighted Bhuvneshwar’s effective use of the wobble seam delivery, a variation that has consistently troubled batters throughout the tournament.
Sachin Tendulkar explains Bhuvneshwar’s success mantra in IPL 2026
Speaking in a video shared on social media, Tendulkar broke down how Bhuvneshwar has evolved his bowling strategy over the years. The batting icon pointed out that instead of relying solely on conventional swing, the RCB pacer has focused on bowling tighter lines while using the wobble seam to create uncertainty for batters.
According to Tendulkar, the variation makes it difficult for batters to predict whether the ball will move away, come back in, or continue straight after pitching.
"This season, if you look at Bhuvi's seam, I think it is a wobbly seam. So when a wobbly seam comes, a batsman often doesn't know whether the ball is going to fall out or in. And that is what Bhuvi has been doing," Sachin Tendulkar said.
The Master Blaster further explained that Bhuvneshwar has consciously moved away from bowling large outswingers and inswingers, instead focusing on attacking the stumps and maintaining disciplined lines around the off stump.
"Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been bowling really well this season. He has developed this variation and has been bowling as straight as possible. His lines have been very, very tight, either off stump or at the most towards the fourth stump. From there, he tries to bowl a straight ball with a wobbly seam," he added.
Tendulkar also praised the veteran pacer’s accuracy, stating that his control has allowed him to maximise the effectiveness of the delivery and make life difficult for opposition batters throughout the season.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s outstanding IPL 2026 numbers
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of the standout performers for Royal Challengers Bengaluru during their run to the IPL 2026 final. The experienced fast bowler has picked up 26 wickets in 15 matches at an impressive average of 18.15 and a strike rate of 13.62 while maintaining an economy rate of exactly 8.
The 36-year-old currently sits second in the Purple Cap standings and remains firmly in contention to finish as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. His ability to strike with the new ball as well as deliver in pressure situations during the middle and death overs has made him one of RCB’s most valuable assets this season.

With GT boasting a formidable batting lineup featuring Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler, RCB will once again rely heavily on Bhuvneshwar to deliver early breakthroughs. If the veteran seamer can continue using his wobble seam variation to good effect, he could play a decisive role in helping Bengaluru defend their IPL crown on the biggest stage.
