Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener Phil Salt revealed his mindset while batting against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Qualifier 1 clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
Salt was the highest run-getter of the Qualifier 1 clash, he smashed an unbeaten 56 off 27 runs while chasing 101 runs against PBKS. Salt said that while chasing, he told himself not to get out on Arshdeep Singh because the PBKS left-arm pacer got his wicket in the last two outings of the tournament.
"Great feeling right now, it (the ball) did move a bit. I think that was not the worst wicket to have played on in this season. Don't get out to Arshdeep, we played 2 group games (with PBKS) and he's found different ways to get me out, so was just trying to react to the ball" said Phil Salt during the post-match presentation.
Salt also revealed that he told their head coach, Andy Flower, that travel and breaks between the games will be a blessing in disguise for the Bengaluru-based franchise.
"I said before the game to Andy (Flower) that was the blessing in disguise for us (talking about the travel and breaks in between games). (This win) Gives us the momentum, it is a cliche but true, that's what you want at the backend of the tournament, want to hit your straps and play a part with the bat or ball" added Salt.
After registering an eight-wicket win, RCB becomes the first franchise to seal their berth for the final of the Indian Premier League, which will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 20. On the other hand, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will now play Qualifier 2, which will also take place in Ahmedabad on June 1.
