Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise made deft moves at the IPL 2026 auction as they sought to aggressively rebuild following a disappointing 2025 season. Entering the auction with a substantial purse of Rs 25.50 crore and a need to fill ten slots, including two overseas positions, SRH had the financial and structural flexibility required to address the gaps exposed in the previous year.

The biggest move by SRH was the acquisition of England all-rounder Liam Livingstone for a significant sum of Rs 13 crore. This high-profile signing clearly reflects the team's intent to add explosive power and crucial balance to their middle order. Beyond their marquee buy, the franchise focused on strengthening the bench with young, uncapped Indian talent. This included wicketkeeper-batter Salil Arora, who was picked up for Rs 1.50 crore, along with Shivang Kumar, Shakib Hussain, Onkar Tukaram Tarmale, Amit Kumar, Praful Hinge, and Krains Fuletra, all of whom were signed at their base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Further bolstering the squad, SRH re-signed fast bowler Shivam Mavi for Rs 75 lakh and purchased uncapped overseas player Jack Edwards for Rs 3 crore. This comprehensive strategy, focusing on both high-impact signings and depth, suggests that SRH, who finished runners-up in 2024 but lacked consistency in 2025, prioritised building options around their settled core, led by captain Pat Cummins, rather than pursuing an overall marquee-heavy spending approach.
