The Indian government has given a green signal to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to stage the Punjab Kings versus Delhi Capitals' IPL 2025 clash in Dharamsala on May 8. Earlier uncertainty loomed over the match and there were talks that it might get postponed after India carried out 'Operation Sindoor' and launched a pointed attack at several terrorist camps in Pakistan on May 7 to avenge the last month's terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
No change in PBKS vs DC IPL 2025 match
But Sports Tak has learnt that the match will go as per the schedule after the government cleared BCCI to host the match in Dharamsala on May 8.
On Wednesday, India conducted strikes on nine terror camps associated with prominent militant organisations, including Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The Indian government issued a clarification stating that the targeted locations were exclusively non-military in nature. Furthermore, the government emphasised that these strikes were "measured, focused, and non-escalatory" in their execution. Following this operation, codenamed 'Sindhoor', flight operations at several airports situated in northwest India have been temporarily suspended until further notice. The affected airports include those in Dharamsala, Chandigarh, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar. These disruptions in air travel are a direct consequence of India's military operation on Tuesday, which targeted terrorist infrastructure located within Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The Kings currently occupy a comfortable position within the top four of the league standings, sitting just a single point away from the top spot. However, they cannot afford to become complacent as they approach their final three matches of the season. On the other hand, the Capitals required intervention from rain to secure a single point in their recent encounter against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, a match where they struggled with the bat and were restricted to a total of 133. Moving forward, the Capitals will need to avoid any further missteps, particularly as their remaining fixtures involve clashes against three of the teams currently positioned in the top four.
Talking about their head-to-head matches in IPL, DC and PBKS have played 33 matches with each other so far. While Delhi have won 16 encounters, Punjab have emerged victorious on 17 occasion.
