Pat Cummins was left scared after witnessing SRH's explosive batting in their IPL 2025 clash against RR

SRH posted a colossal total of 286/6 and then bundled out RR for 242/6

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) made a resounding statement in their opening match of the IPL 2025 season, showcasing their intent to deliver thrilling cricket. SRH's merciless batters once again entertained the Vizag fan to the fullest with their power-hitting display. SRH batters wreaked havoc on RR bowlers to post second-highest team total ever seen in the tournament's history. Facing the RR, SRH amassed a formidable 286 runs in their first innings and remain just one-run short of their own record of highest total which they scripted against RCB in IPL 2024.

SRH rode on Ishan Kishan's blistering century (67-ball 106 runs) to post the imposing total which was decorated with 34 fours and 12 sixes which made RR bowlers look ordinary. In reply, RR ran out of steam in the end and succumbed to a 44-run defeat against SRH, despite Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel's blistering fifties.

Not just Ishan Kishan, even Travis Head belted RR bowlers all around the park with his lighting 31-ball 67. Heinrich Klaasen (14-ball 34) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (15-ball 30) also contributed with their fiery knocks in the middle.

Pat Cummins is scared after SRH's explosive batting in winning cause against RR

SRH captain Pat Cummins was left in awe of his team's explosive batting and termed it scary.

"Unbelievable. We get 280-odd, and it's scary. You know you're going to go for runs. You know it's going to be tough. When you have such a big score, one over can win it for your side. Ishan today was incredible. The preparation has been amazing. Our coaches have been fantastic. Everyone has come fit and firing," Pat Cummins said in the post-match presentation.

Meanwhile, the losing captain Riyan Parag rued RR's defeat. He has been appointed RR's captain for the first three matches as the regular skipper Sanju Samson will be playing just as an impact player due to injury concerns.

"It was tough, just like I expected. Credit to SRH but we could have executed better. Will have a sit down and chat about today. (On choosing to bowl first) I feel collectively we took that decision, it was the right decision but it was about executing better. You’d mind if 280 is on the board, in the toss I said 200 was what I expected but 220-240 would have been good to take. Quite a few positives, the way Dhruv and Sanju batted was brilliant. And then Hettie and Shivam as well later on. Tushar bowled really well, Sandy paaji did well. A win or a less, we take the learnings and then we forget," Parag said.
