Gujarat Titans (GT) rode on Mohammed Siraj's four-fer and Shubman Gill's fifty to continue their impressive run in IPL 2025, notching their third consecutive win by convincingly defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in their own backyard on April 6. Mohammed Siraj's career-best spell of 4/17 folded SRH for just 152/8. In reply, Shubman Gill's captain's knock (43-ball 61) which was well-supported by Washington Sundar's polished 49 run-knock ensured GT chase down the target with 20 balls to spare. This win propelled Gujarat up to the second position on the IPL 2025 points table, boasting six points and a healthy net run rate of 1.031.
Despite an initial setback in their opening match against Punjab Kings, GT have since displayed clinical form, stringing together consecutive wins against formidable opponents like the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and now SRH.
But it was a night to remember for Siraj, who also ran riot against RCB. In Sunday's match, he delivered a devastating spell, dismantling Hyderabad's top order by taking the crucial wicket of Travis Head. This dismissal also marked a personal milestone for Siraj, as he became the 12th Indian fast bowler to reach the 100-wicket mark in the IPL. He later returned to add two more scalps to his tally. Throughout his sensational spell, the pace spearhead conceded a mere three boundaries, effectively dictating terms to a strong Sunrisers Hyderabad batting lineup.
Besides Head, Siraj also gunned down Abhishek Sharma, Simarjeet Singh and Aniket Verma.
Meanwhile, SRH captain Pat Cummins rued his team's massive defeat and admitted that his batters were completely clueless against GT's pace unit studded with Siraj. He said GT's pace bowling was tough to play against today.
"Was a bit skinny, but the Hyderabad wicket is a bit tough. A few early wickets and you are in the game. It didn't spin much, there was a little dew around, but they batted really well. Their pace bowling was tough to play against today," Cummins said in the post-match presentation.
SRH will next take on Punjab Kings in their IPL 2025 clash on April 12 at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium
