India’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 final centurion, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to play in the DY Patil T20 tournament in Mumbai ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Sooryavanshi will play for one of the DY Patil sides.
As per a report by Cricbuzz, Sooryavanshi is current in Rajasthan Royals (RR) camp. He will go to his hometown and then arrive in Mumbai for the T20 competition. The DY Patil T20 tournament will begin on February 23. Several international players are set to take part in the tournament.
"He is currently practising in Talegaon, where the Rajasthan Royals camp is underway. The camp will continue till February 21, after which Sooryavanshi will proceed to Patna and then to his hometown," a source told Cricbuzz.
DY Patil tournament is one of the oldest T20 competitions in India. It's first edition was played in 2023.

The soon-to-be 15-year-old scored a blistering 175 against England in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 final in Harare. He smashed 15 sixes and as many fours in the innings. He missed being the top run-scorer of the tournament by just six runs. From seven innings, he scored 439 runs at an average of 62.71 and strike rate of 169.49.
Sooryavanshi hasn’t been home since the title win. The report further states that the southpaw will go back home for a promotional event where he will be presented a vehicle.
Buttler lauds Sooryavanshi
Sooryavanshi has made a name for himself in the past year. There have been calls to fastrack him into the senior side like the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. England’s veteran wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler went on to call him the best batter he has ever seen. Buttler wonders what Sooryavanshi would be able to achieve as he grows older and gets more confidence.
Sooryavanshi’s debut IPL season numbers
In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Sooryavanshi was roped in for Rs 1.1 crore by the inaugural edition’s champions. As Sanju Samson got injured, he got a chance to play seven games in debut IPL season. He started his IPL career with a six and scored a century against Gujarat Titans (GT). From seven innings, he scored 252 runs at an average of 36 and strike rate of 206.55. He whacked 24 sixes in the season.
