India's batting sensation Virat Kohli played his 400th T20 match during the KKR vs RCB clash in the ongoing edition of the India Premier League on March 22 (Saturday). He made history by being the first player in history to score 1000 runs against four Indian Premier League teams. The first IPL 2025 match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru was held at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This was Kohli's 35th IPL encounter against KKR, and he has now amassed 1000 runs against them.
Virat also joins elite list with Rohit and Warner
To reach the 1000-run milestone, Kohli, the all-time leading scorer in IPL history, needed to score 38 runs in Saturday's match against KKR. He did so by hitting a single on the fifth ball of the tenth over of the run chase, which was bowled by Sunil Narine. After Rohit Sharma (1070) and David Warner (1093), Kohli is the third player to score 1000 runs or more against the three-time IPL champions in the world's most lucrative franchise cricket league.
Additionally, Kohli has also scored more than 1000 IPL runs against Chennai Super Kings (1053), Delhi Capitals (1057) and Punjab Kings (1030). He is the only batter to achieve this legendary feat against four teams
In the Indian Premier League's opening game, Royal Challengers Bangalore crushed the Kolkata Knight Riders in a spectacular display led by Virat Kohli. After leading his team to a seven-wicket victory on Saturday, Kohli stayed undefeated at 59 off just 36 balls.
On March 21, when playing at Eden Gardens, Kohli and Phil Salt came out aggressively. Ajinkya Rahane, the captain of KKR, had to bring in Varun Chakravarthy in the fourth over because the two were just taking the match away from them. During his innings, Kohli scored four boundaries and three sixes with some incredible strokes.
