New Zealand's veteran batter Kane Williamson feels Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) Virat Kohli will have a big impact in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Williamson believes that while Virat Kohli has adapted his batting style, his fundamental impact and drive remain unchanged. Williamson said that Kohli's recent successful ODI performances with India will translate into a big contribution for RCB in the IPL 2025 season.

No doubt Virat Kohli is going to have a big impact again: Kane Williamson

Williamson noted that Kohli displayed flashes of his vintage form during the Champions Trophy 2025, where he amassed over 220 runs and earned the Player of the Match award in the crucial semifinal against Australia. As in previous seasons, Kohli is expected to anchor the RCB batting lineup from the opening position. His previous IPL season, where he won the Orange Cap with 741 runs in 15 innings, proves his batting might.

Virat Kohli will take the centre stage in the IPL once again as he takes to the field in the opening match of the 2025 season. Having been a part of the RCB lineup since the inaugural IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008, Kohli's consistent dedication to the franchise is evident. This season, he will participate in the highly anticipated season-opening contest between RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Saturday, marking a rematch of the very first IPL game after a 17 year gap. His continued involvement underscores his significant role in the IPL's history and his ongoing commitment to RCB.

“No doubt he’s going to have a big impact again as he has done in almost every season of this tournament. I know he’s extremely motivated with RCB to push for a title and I’m sure this season they’ll be there or thereabouts,” Williamson told media during an interaction.

Kane Williamson, reflecting on Virat Kohli's evolving cricketing style, said that these adjustments would not diminish Kohli's inherent batting prowess or overall effectiveness. Despite any tactical modifications Kohli might have incorporated into his game, Williamson remains confident in his ability to deliver impactful performances. This observation was made by Williamson who was not part of the previous IPL auction.

“It’s quite interesting as players kind of go into different stages of their career, different phases. He’s obviously been on the scene for a number of years but his style perhaps adjusts a little bit. But the hunger remains and the passion remains and we’ve seen that in his performances recently as well,” he concluded.
