The intense IPL 2026 encounter between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium was marked by a moment of high drama. During the 10th over of the LSG innings, a massive breakdown in communication occurred between batters Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram. After playing a short delivery from Jamie Overton toward square leg, Pant quickly called for a second run, prompting a sharp and immediate response from his captain.

However, the situation nearly turned disastrous for the Super Giants when the two players suffered a complete misunderstanding mid-pitch. Markram found himself stranded halfway down the track with no clear support from the non-striker’s end, leaving him dangerously exposed to a run-out. The confusion sparked a moment of visible panic within the LSG camp as the CSK fielders moved rapidly to capitalize on the mistake.

Markram appeared to have nearly conceded his wicket as he scrambled to regain his ground. In a stroke of luck for the visitors, the throw from the CSK fielder missed the stumps, allowing both batters to complete the second run and survive the blunder. Despite the successful run, the frustration was etched on Markram’s face; the South African star was seen fuming at Pant, clearly incensed by a risky call that very nearly ended his innings prematurely.
