Delhi Capitals veteran wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul, who is known for his humbleness, stole the limelight after the team's eight-wicket win against his previous franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. KL Rahul, who was featuring against LSG for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League, ignored his previous franchise owner, Sanjiv Goenka, after shaking hands.
A video is going viral on social media where Delhi Capitals (DC) players were seen shaking hands with Sanjiv Goenka, and humble KL Rahul handclaps with him. Goenka did try to say something to Rahul, but the wicketkeeper-batter wasted no time heading back to the Delhi Capitals dugout, leaving the 64-year-old stranded with a smile on his face. Here is the clip.
KL Rahul captained LSG for the previous three seasons of the tournament and led them to the playoffs twice before the franchise decided to release him ahead of the mega auction for the 18th edition of the tournament. DC picked him up in the mega auction for a whopping Rs 14 Crore and has been having a prolific season for them.
Earlier, KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka made headlines during the IPL 2024 clash between LSG and SRH when KL was leading the Lucknow-based franchise. Goenka can be seen shouting at the wicketkeeper batter after the team's ten-wicket loss against the Pat Cummins-led side.
After his match-winning knock against LSG, KL Rahul became the fastest to 5000 IPL runs. He remained not out at 57 off 42 balls, including three fours and three sixes. Rahul completed this milestone in just 130 innings, surpassing the previous record held by former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner (135). Virat Kohli completed his 5000 IPL runs in 157 innings and is in third place in the list.
