Story Highlights:

Shreyas Iyer combined with Xavier Bartlett to produce a stunning catch to dismiss Hardik Pandya

Shreyas Iyer's effort left Rohit Sharma in total disbelief

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer delivered a sensational moment of fielding brilliance that resulted in the dismissal of Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya during their IPL 2026 clash at the Wankhede stadium. The Indian all-rounder had lofted a delivery from Marco Jansen toward the straight boundary, seemingly destined for six. However, Iyer, positioned at long-on, executed a perfectly timed leap to his left to intercept the ball. Realizing his momentum would carry him over the boundary ropes, the Punjab captain showed great presence of mind by tossing the ball to Xavier Bartlett, who safely completed the relay catch.

Iyer-Bartlett produce leaves Rohit in awe

The extraordinary effort left teammates and opponents alike in disbelief, particularly Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, who watched the play unfold from the dugout just a few yards away. Their stunned reactions mirrored the atmosphere in the stadium as the complexity of the catch became clear.

Immediately after the wicket was confirmed, Iyer stood up and signaled for the crowd to acknowledge the feat. The fans at the Wankhede Stadium responded with a thunderous ovation, clearly impressed by the athleticism on display—a reception made even more poignant by the fact that Iyer was performing these heroics on his home turf as a Mumbai native.

Quinton de Kock roars with spellbinding ton

Despite the shaky start MI ended up posting a big total of 195. The team faced early pressure following the quick dismissals of Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav, but the innings was revitalised by a dominant 122-run partnership between Naman Dhir and Quinton de Kock. While this pair effectively set the tone for a high score, the middle order struggled to capitalize on the momentum once the partnership was broken.

Quinton de Kock was the undisputed star of the show, carrying his bat to finish with an unbeaten 112 runs off just 60 deliveries. From a bowling perspective, Arshdeep Singh was the standout performer for PBKS, enjoying a superb spell of 3/22.
