Star wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson has visited the Centre of Excellence (CoE) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to obtain permission to preserve wickets. On Monday, March 31, the Indian keeper-batter took a plane from Guwahati to Bengaluru in order to obtain the CoE managers' complete approval. After undergoing surgery on his right index finger, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals was first only given a temporary and partial clearance to participate in the current IPL. As per the Cricbuzz report, he will now be tested by the CoE's Sport Science wing and will ask for permission to return to his full duties.

Sanju will also return as captain if he is allowed to keep wickets. He gave Riyan Parag the captaincy due to the partial clearance, and he participated in the Royals' three games this season as an Impact Player. According to sources, he feels well enough to resume his wicket-keeping responsibilities now that his thumb injury has completely healed.

"He will seek clearance to do so for the remaining games and is expected to be back as skipper from the RR's next match, which is nearly a week away," said a source.

Sanju has scored 66 against SRH, 13 vs KKR, and 20 vs CSK in three games played solely as a batter, without fielding, rather than as an Impact Player. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel took wickets for the team. If he wins approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Indian star is anticipated to resume his duties behind the stumps and captaincy as well.

The Royals have had a tumultuous start to their IPL season, losing their first two games before winning their maiden game against the Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati on Sunday night. They will face the Punjab Kings away on April 5, followed by another away encounter against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on April 9th. The team will then return to their old headquarters in Jaipur for their third home game against RCB on April 13.
