More than the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) versus Delhi Capitals (DC) IPL 2025 clash, the buzz was around MS Dhoni's retirement. However the speculations were put to rest by the CSK head coach Stephen Fleming after the match which saw Chennai going down to Delhi Capitals by 25 runs at the Chepauk stadium on April 5.

However, till Fleming's final remark on Dhoni's IPL retirement, the social media was abuzz with talks around the legendary batter's last dance in the glitzy league.

On top of it a video clip went viral on social media which further fueled these retirement talks. The video showed MS Dhoni's wife, Sakshi Dhoni, seemingly having a conversation with their daughter, Ziva, during CSK’s match against DC. Based on lip-reading interpretations of the short clip, Sakshi appears to say 'last match' to Ziva, igniting a fresh wave of speculation about Dhoni's future in the IPL. Adding a special touch to the atmosphere at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai was the presence of MS Dhoni's parents, Pan Singh Dhoni and Devaki Devi. They were joined by their granddaughter, Ziva, as they watched and cheered for Dhoni from the stands. This occasion marked a big moment, as it was reportedly the first time that Dhoni's parents had been present at the stadium to witness the former India captain in action.

The presence of Dhoni's parents at the match naturally led to increased speculation among fans and commentators that he might be considering retirement after the game. However, the Chennai Super Kings appeared to address these swirling rumors in their own characteristic and subtle way through their social media channels, seemingly downplaying any immediate plans for Dhoni to hang up his boots.

Later, in the post-match presentation, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming made it clear that MS Dhoni is still going strong and isn't going to retire anytime soon

“No, that's not my role to put an end to it. I have no idea. I'm just enjoying working with him still. He's still going strong. I don't even ask these days. You are the ones who ask,” Fleming said in the post-match press conference.

CSK will next face Punjab Kings in Chandigarh on April 8, followed by a home game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 11, and another away fixture against Lucknow on April 14. Their highly anticipated clash against Mumbai Indians is scheduled for April 20 in an away game.
