MI will take on RCB at the Wankhede stadium on April 7

Stage is set for highly-anticipated Mumbai Indians (MI) versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clash at the Wankhede stadium on Monday, April 7. Meanwhile, right ahead of the showdown, Mumbai Indians' head coach, Mahela Jayawardene came up with a big update regarding the availability of Rohit Sharma for MI's second home game of the IPL 2025 season.

Jayawardene hinted that Rohit Sharma is showing positive signs and took part in MI's batting practice during the net session on Sunday, April 6th.

“Rohit looks good; he will bat today," Jayawardene told reporters during the pre-match press conference.

Rohit Sharma's return to practicing in the nets strongly suggests that he will be in the running for a spot in the playing eleven for Monday's game against RCB.

Rohit was notably absent from MI's previous match against the Lucknow Super Giants, which took place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 4, due to an injury.

In his absence, Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks took on the opening duties, but unfortunately, they weren't able to make a significant impact with the bat.

Rohit's potential comeback in the clash against RCB would undoubtedly be a big boost for MI. He boasts a solid track record in the IPL when facing RCB. Across the 33 IPL matches he's played against the Bengaluru-based franchise, both for the Deccan Chargers and the Mumbai Indians, Rohit has accumulated a total of 831 runs.

Jayawardene also confirmed Jasprit Bumrah's availability for the clash against RCB.

“He’s available, he’s training today, and should be available (for RCB game). He arrived last night (Saturday, April 5), he had his sessions with NCA (National Cricket Academy, now Centre of Excellence) to finalise that, he’s been handed over to our physios. He’s bowling today, so all good," Jayawardene said in the pre-match conference.

“Boom’s coming back from a pretty decent layoff, so we need to give him that space. Not expect too much. Knowing Jasprit he will be up for it. We’re very happy to have him in the camp, the experience he brings, that extra voice out there in the middle, chatting with Boulty (Trent Boult), chatting with Deepak (Chahar) or any other younger bowler, giving that advice is also very valuable for us. That’s what we’re looking forward to from him," he concluded.
