Kane Williamson missed the first two Tests due to injury.

Senior Indian batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have not been at their best of late. India have suffered batting collapses in the first two Tests against New Zealand leading to a historic Test series loss. On the other hand, New Zealand won despite missing their no.3 speciallist Kane Williamson. Also, after resting Babar Azam, Pakistan won the Test series against England to revive their World Test Championship (WTC) final chances. As India gear up for the final Test of the series, former India pacer Dodda Ganesh indicated that the selectors can take inspiration for New Zealand and Pakistan’s series wins.

Ganesh took to X and wrote: “Pakistan winning without Babar Azam and NZ winning without Kane Williamson. Hmm. Is there a message for the Indian selectors?”

Meanwhile, Ganesh suggested a change in India's batting order for the third Test at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. He wants skipper Rohit to move to middle order and have Shubman Gill open the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

“Won’t be bad idea if Rohit moves to the middle order and have Gill opening the batting with Jaiswal in the next test,” Ganesh opined.

He lauded Tom Latham-led New Zealand for creating history on Indian soil.

“Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties. Well played NZ. Deserving winners. You guys have done the unthinkable,” he said.

Williamson out due to injury, Babar replacement by domestic performer

Williamson was named in New Zealand’s Test squad for India tour but stayed back home to nurse the groin injury. He may not join the team for the final Test of the series. In his absence, Will Young 122 runs from four innings at an average of 40.67.

On the other hand, Babar was rested alongside Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah. Babar has not scored a fifty in last nine Tests. His replacement in the squad, Kamran Ghulam scored a century on Test debut in the second Test of the series at Multan Cricket Stadium.
