Former Australian cricketer Stuart Law was fired from his position as head coach of the men's national cricket team of the United States. Following the USA's crushing 10-wicket defeat to Scotland in a 2027 ODI World Cup qualifying match, he was dismissed. Law's departure comes after the USA struggled in the World Cup League 2 series in Dallas, losing their opening match after being bowled out for 144 runs. At Grand Prairie Stadium, Scotland's Andrew Umeed then chased down the target in 24.5 overs with an undefeated score of 98. After losing to Nepal 3-0 in the T20 series, the team's previous struggles were exacerbated by the loss to Scotland.

"USA Cricket announced the departure of Men’s National Team Head Coach Stuart Law today. Law was appointed to the position in April and led the team during USA’s historic performance at this year’s T20 World Cup, where the team advanced to the Super 8 in its inaugural World Cup appearance," read the statement.

USA cricket CEO Johnathan Atkeison speaking on the matter said that it was not an easy decision to end the tenure of Law, but believed that a change was necessary for the next phase.

"Given Stuart’s contribution to the program, this was not an easy decision to make. Unfortunately, we felt that a change was necessary for the next phase of competitive preparation," said Atkeison.

Law, who was hired in April on a three-year deal, guided the United States to the Super 8s after leading the team to a historic upset victory over Pakistan in Dallas during their co-hosted T20 World Cup campaign alongside the West Indies. Even though the USA lost badly in the Super 8s, everyone was impressed by their performance. Law, who is well-known for having coached international teams in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies, has now abruptly left USA Cricket. On Sunday, the USA will play Nepal in the World Cup League 2 series.
