Virat Kohli back as no.1 ODI batter after July 2021, Rohit Sharma drops to no.3

India’s in-form senior batter Virat Kohli has reclaimed the no.1 ICC ODI batter spot for the first time in nearly four and a half years. A match-winning 93-run knock in the ODI series opener in Vadodara, Kohli went up one place to occupy the top spot.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell has moved to second spot with a 71-ball 84 in a losing cause. It led to Rohit Sharma slipping to the third place. Rohit had scored 26 off 29 balls in the successful run chase.

There isn’t much to separate Kohli and Mitchell as far as rating points are concerned. Kohli (785) has just one point lead over Mitchell (784) whereas Rohit (764) is not too far behind.

There are no other changes in the top 10 ODI batter rankings. But, KL Rahul edged closer to top 10. He occupies the 11th spot after an unbeaten 21-ball 29 cameo. He went past Australian opener Travis Head who has 653 rating points, just one less than Rahul.

Siraj up 5 places, Jadeja down 5

In the bowling department, Mohammed Siraj gained five places upon comeback. He shares the 15th spot with Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz after taking two wickets for 40 runs in eight overs. But, his wicketless teammate Ravindra Jadeja, dropped five places to 21st.

This is the 825th day Kohli has spent as no.1 ODI batter. He is 10th on the list. The top nine are — West Indies' Viv Richards (2306) and Brian Lara (2,079), Australia's Michael Bevan (1361), Pakistan's Babar Azam (1359), South Africa's AB de Villiers (1356), Australia's Dean Jones (1161), England’s Keith Fletcher (1101), South Africa's Hashim Amla (1047) and Australia’s Greg Chappell (998).
