Star wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma who was picked for Rs 11 crore by Royal Challengers Bengaluru could not retain his spot as the back-up wicketkeeper-batter. Jitesh did not get a single game on the tour. His last appearance in T20Is was against Afghanistan where he was dismissed for a two-ball duck. So far, he has scored 100 runs from nine T20Is at an average of 14.28 and strike rate of 147.05.

Vijaykumar Vyshak did not get to make his T20I debut on the South Africa tour. Vyshak has been picked by Punjab Kings for Rs 1.8 crore. He was not in good form for Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.

Avesh Khan played two T20Is in South Africa and remained wicketless in his last appearance. He took two wickets for 28 runs in Durban. So far, he has played 25 T20Is and scalped 28 wickets at an average of 27.85. His economy rate is just over nine runs per over.

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal is yet to make his debut for India across formats. He was not given a chance on the South Africa tour. He did not feature in the SMAT 2024. The pacer was retained by RCB for Rs 4 crore

Meanwhile, Shivam Dube is another notable absentee. Ruled out of T20I series against Bangladesh and South Africa due to back injury, the T20 World Cup 2024-winning member made his case in the SMAT. He scored 151 runs from five innings including an unbeaten 71 against Services.
