India’s explosive batter Rinku Singh showed a different side of his game on Day 4 of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 clash at Green Park, Kanpur, crafting a patient and much-needed century for Uttar Pradesh. This was Rinku's 8th century in first-class cricket, he also has 22 half-centuries in the format.
Rinku, who came to bat when UP were in a spot of bother at 294/6, still trailing Andhra’s first-innings total of 470 by a huge margin, took charge of a tricky situation alongside Vipraj Nigam. The two stitched together a crucial partnership that not only steadied the innings but also kept UP in the game.
Earlier on Day 3, UP had dug itself into trouble with a casual approach, despite a solid 119-run stand between Madhav Kaushik and Aryan Juyal. But quick wickets before and after lunch, triggered by Ricky Bhui’s timely breakthroughs and some loose shot selections, saw UP collapse from 193/2 to 294/6.
