The very first match of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup was won by BLV Blasters after their impressive 29-run victory over the Royal Phantom in Mohali on Thursday, July 13. Young batter Naman Dhir scored a magnificent 105 runs in 44 balls with 6 fours and 9 sixes for his team, helping his team to 215 runs for 6 wickets in the first game.

In response, the Royal Phantom could only manage 186 runs for seven wickets and had to face defeat by 29 runs.

Batting first, the BLV Blasters lost their first wicket for 35 runs but after this, there was a partnership of 68 runs between opener Jaish Jain and Naman Dhir. Jain went on to score 41 runs off 33 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. At the other end, Naman created havoc with the bat.

Meanwhile, their opponents the Royal  Phantom, who were chasing a target of 216 runs, started off on the right patch with an 87-run partnership between openers Aditya Pratap and Taranveer Singh. But soon after, Aditya, who had scored 17 runs in 22 balls with 2 fours, lost his wicket. The other opener Taranveer Singh was also dismissed after scoring 79 runs in 47 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes.

After this, none of the Royal batters could survive and after the fall of the second wicket for 101 runs, their 6 wickets had fallen by the time the score was 156 runs. This meant that the team lost six batters for 55 runs, which led to the Royals being able to score only 186 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.
