India veteran spinner Kuldeep Yadav reportedly requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to grant him leave for his wedding later this month. Kuldeep has been engaged to his childhood friend Vanshika on June 4, 2025. The engagement took place in a private ceremony in Lucknow, attended by close friends and family, including fellow cricketer Rinku Singh.
Why Kuldeep Yadav might miss 2nd Test?
TOI reported that Kuldeep has requested leave and he is waiting for approval from the board. The 30-year-old had earlier postponed his wedding function in the year when the IPL finished later than the scheduled date due to cross-border tension between India and Pakistan.
“Kuldeep’s wedding is planned for the last week of Nov. The team management will assess when they will need his services before granting him the exact number of leaves,” a BCCI source said as quoted by TOI
The report further stated that Kuldeep has sought leave in the last week of November, which means there are chances that he will not be available for the selection for the ODI series against South Africa, scheduled to start from November 30. South Africa is scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against India.
India vs South Africa 1st Test
However, Kuldeep is featuring in the opener Test against South Africa at Eden Gardens in Kolkata as India featured with four spinners, including Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. Kuldeep, who has a brilliant outing against West Indies in India's last Test assignment, has picked up Temba Bavuma's wicket on the first session after Jasprit Bumrah removed openers Ryan Rickelton (23) and Aiden Markram (31) to shift the momentum of the game.
Kuldeep had played only one of the three ODIs and the first two T20Is in Australia. He was left out of the XI for the third T20I in Hobart and Washington Sundar took his spot before being released from the squad to play against South Africa A.
