This series against South Africa marked Kohli's long-awaited return to international cricket on home soil. On his return, the veteran batter dominated One-Day cricket, notably scoring back-to-back centuries on the home turf. However, Kohli's impact is not just limited to his batting; he has always been known as a great character on the field for India, often using his immense stardom and charm throughout his career to interact and engage with the crowd, both in India and overseas.

During this final game of the series at Visakhapatnam, Kohli appeared to be back to his prime, keeping the crowd entertained with various antics on the field. From humorously imitating Temba Bavuma upon his dismissal to engaging in fun banter with his teammates, Kohli's vibrant presence was clearly felt. When Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Corbin Bosch in his ninth over with an easy return catch off the backfoot, a pumped-up Kohli approached the bowler and celebrated the crucial wicket by engaging in a spontaneous couple dance with the Indian spinner.

India fought back gallantly in the third and series-deciding final ODI, keeping South Africa to a manageable total of 270. This impressive effort came after Quinton de Kock had struck his 23rd ODI hundred for the visitors.

The hosts' bowling attack was spearheaded by Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed impressive figures of 4/41, and Prasidh Krishna, who took 4/66. Together, the duo shared eight wickets, ensuring that India bowled out South Africa for 270 despite De Kock's century. De Kock's fluent innings of 106 came off just 89 balls and included eight fours and six sixes. Skipper Temba Bavuma also contributed with a steady 48 runs off 67 balls, featuring five fours, but none of the other Proteas batters were able to make a significant impact.

The momentum shifted when Prasidh Krishna struck twice in the 29th over, removing both Matthew Breetzke (24) and Aiden Markram. Subsequently, Kuldeep Yadav proved far too good for the rest of the visiting lineup, running swiftly through the South African tail to finish the innings.
