Tony De Zorzi and Kwena Maphaka ruled out of T20I series vs India.

South Africa suffered a massive blow as their top order batter, Tony de Zorzi, who failed to feature in the third ODI against India, has been ruled out of the T20I series as well, which is scheduled to start from November 09. De Zorzi experienced right hamstring area pain while batting and was unable to continue batting during the run chase in the second ODI against India. 

Why Tony de Zorzi and Kwena Maphaka are ruled out of the T20I series vs India

Apart from De Zorzi, Kwena Maphaka, who is currently in the final phase of his rehabilitation from a left hamstring injury and will not be fit in time for the start of the T20I series. He has been withdrawn from the squad and the Proteas added Lutho Sipamla as his replacement for the T20Is. 

"De Zorzi has also been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20 International (T20I) series against India, which gets underway on Tuesday, 09 December, and will return home. No replacement has been named" said South Africa Cricket in a press release. 

 

"Fast bowler Kwena Maphaka did not progress as expected during the final phase of his rehabilitation from a left hamstring injury and will not be fit in time for the start of the T20I series. He has been withdrawn from the squad. DP World Lions fast bowler Lutho Sipamla has been added to the side" release added.

Shubman Gill set to feature for India

India's T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill, who missed out on the second Test and three-match ODI series against South Africa, has been declared fit by the BCCI's CoE, and he will be seen in action in the five-match T20I series against South Africa.
