Sikkim batters absolutely surrendered against Madhya Pradesh to repeat a feat which was achieved in 1810 in First-Class cricket. Sikkim got bundled out for just six runs as nine batters failed to open their account in the ongoing Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16) on December 23 at Kholvad Gymkhana Ground.

While millions had their eyes glued to the fast-paced bidding in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction, as many as seven Sikkim batters registered ducks.

MP's Girraj Sharma took five wickets in his five overs including four maidens. Girraj conceded just one run in the innings. Hasan took four wickets from 4.3 overs and conceded just five runs.

Opener and wicketkeeper-batter Avneesh turned out to be the only Sikkim batter who hit a boundary. The only other batter who scored runs was Akshyad who scored just two runs.

While this will not qualify as a First-Class game, the record for lowest total was created at Lord's (Old) in 1810. The Bs were dismissed for 6 in the first innings against England as well.

Earlier, Sikkim were asked to follow on after they got all out for 43 in the first innings. Only top-order batter Karan scored 25 runs whereas no other batter failed to score in double digits.

On Day 1, Madhya Pradesh skipper Manal Chauhan won the toss and opted to bat first. The skipper led from the front and scored 170 runs from 107 deliveries with a strike rate of 158.88. His 170-run knock was studded with 23 fours and seven sixes.

Prateek Shukla also took the white-ball approach and scored 86 runs from 87 deliveries including 15 fours. MP posted 414/8 from 65.3 overs before declaring.
