In the Hong Kong Sixes tournament versus India, former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara showed off his skills by hitting six sixes in a single over, on Saturday, November 2. In the fourth over of the game, Bopara destroyed India captain Robin Uthappa by hitting him all over the Mong Kok ground.
Before the India captain bowled a wide on the final ball to postpone the humiliation imposed upon him, Bopara bludgeoned Uthappa for five straight sixes. The England skipper hit 37 runs from Uthappa's over by smashing a maximum on the final ball.
In the very next over after hitting his six-sixes, Bopara hit his seventh consecutive sixes against Shahbaz Nadeem, completing his half-century off just 14 balls. With eight sixes in his innings, the England captain scored 53 (14) before retiring. Samit Patel, who also played an incredible innings of 51 (18) with four fours and five sixes, provided him with excellent support.
England achieved a massive score of 120/1 in six overs thanks to their hard work. With fast-paced strikes from Bharat Chipli (21 off 7) and Shreevats Goswami (27 off 10), India got off to a strong start in reply. Uthappa, on the other hand, was discharged for a golden duck after failing to contribute significantly. With his knock of 48* (15), which included four fours and five sixes, Kedar Jadhav did his best to push his team over the finish line.
However, India lost the match by 15 runs after only managing to reach 105/3 in their 6 overs. With statistics of 2/11 in one over, Bopara was England's best bowler, and Jordan Thompson also collected 1/32 in two overs. Bopara's all-around effort earned him the title of Player of the Match. India has now lost three straight games against England, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan, and they are still looking for their first tournament victory.
