Only one Bangladesh batter managed to score in double digits.

Ibrahim Zadran missed out on a century as he was run out.

Afghanistan romped over Bangladesh in third ODI with a 200-run win at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, to complete 3-0 cleansweep on October 14. After Ibrahim Zadran's 95-run knock and Mohammad Nabi's electrifying 37-ball 62 not out, pacer Bilal Sami's fifer on return helped Afghanistan bundle out Bangladesh for 93 in 27.1 overs. Bangladesh’s batting woes continued as no batter part from opener Saif Hassan managed to score in double digits.

Ideal start for Afghanistan

Earlier, Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and opted to bat first. Zadran got an early reprieve as his catch was put down by Mohammad Naim in the third over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz took the attacking route against new-ball bowlers. Their partnership was broken in the 16th over by Tanvir Islam. Gurbaz got out lbw for a 44-ball 42, featuring five fours and a six. Zadran reached his half-century in the 18th over. He took 61 balls to reach the milestone. Sediquallah Atal played himself in before getting caught & bowled in the 32nd over. He scored 29 runs from 47 balls. In his next over, Hassan dismissed Shahidi as well.

Hassan continued to strike and knocked over Ikram Alikhil for a single-digit score. Azmatullah Omarzai hit three overs before he was knocked over for a 21-ball 20 in the 42nd over. Rashid Khan arrived at the crease and smashed a six. But, in the next over, he fell to captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz. In the 48th over, Afghanistan found themselves nine down as Hasan Mahmud dismissed Nageyalia Kharote and Allah Ghazanfar off consecutive balls. In the penultimate over, Nabi smashed Miraz for three consecutive sixes. In the final over, he smashed Mahmud for three fours and a six. He reached his fifty off just 35 balls. His 37-ball 62 helped Afghanistan post 293/9.

Bilal, Rashid wreck Bangladesh lineup

In the run chase, it was only Hassan who showed some fight. He even crossed the fence against the new ball. Omarzai broke the opening partnership with Naim's wicket for a single-digit score. Sami was introduced in the attack and he delivered with Najmul Hossain Shanto's wicket. Rashid needed just one delivery to get the wicket. He knocked over Towhid Hridoy. He ended Hassan's stay as well. The opener scored 43 runs from 54 balls, including two fours and three sixes. In the 20th over, Sami got rid of skipper Miraz. Shamim Hossain was run out off the next delivery. Nurul Hasan became Rashid's third victim of the match. Sami made light work of the tail and Bangladesh were bowled out for 93 in 27.1 overs.

“I have been working hard on my game and I had the backing of my team, it was not easy because we have plenty of options with the ball and glad that I could deliver today,” Sami said in the post-match presentation.
