Former India cricketer Suresh Raina made a special request to the Indian government and asked them to award Virat Kohli with the Bharat Ratna award. The only Indian cricketer who has been awarded with the honour so far is Sachin Tendulkar, who received the award back in 2014. He also became the youngest recipient of the award at that time.

"I feel the Indian government should award him the Bharat Ratna because he has achieved so many things for India," Raina said on Star Sports.

Raina further went on to say that Kohli deserves a farewell match in Delhi. The 36-year-old's recent retirement from Tests shocked the cricketing world. Raina believes that after doing so much for the country, Kohli thoroughly deserves a proper farewell match.

"I also feel he should be given a retirement match in Delhi. His family and coach would have been there to support him. After doing so much for the country, you communicate with him because he deserves a retirement match," he added.

The campaign began with a simple social media post but ended up becoming a movement to celebrate the legacy of one of the modern-day greats. Kohli is not only a legend in international cricket, but is undoubtedly a legend for RCB as well. He has been featuring for the Bengaluru-based franchise since the inaugural season of IPL.

IPL 2025 resumed on May 17, following a one-week ban due to the increase in border tensions between India and Pakistan. However, the clash between RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was called-off without a single ball being played as rain completely took over in Bengaluru.

RCB will be facing-off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23 and will wrapping up their league stage with the clash against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27. The Bengaluru-based franchise is currently at the top of the IPL standings with 17 points from 13 matches. A win will be enough to make them qualify for the playoffs.
