Australia's Callum Vidler (L) celebrates after the dismissal of India's Arshin Kulkarni during the Under-19 World Cup final at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on February 11, 2024.

Story Highlights:

Callum Vidler has suffered a partial stress fracture.

Vidler has been replaced by Henry Thornton in the Australia A squad for white-ball series.

The white-ball series between India and Australia A will begin on September 30.

After Test captain Pat Cummins and Lance Morris, another Australian pacer has suffered a back injury. Queensland's 19-year-old pacer Callum Vidler sustained a partial stress fracture and has been ruled out of the white-ball series against India A starting September 30.

Vidler's last appearance in professional cricket was in the Sheffield Shield 2024-25 final against South Australia in March. He picked up five wickets, including a four-wicket haul in a losing cause. His scalps in the final included Australia's Test batters Nathan McSweeny and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey.

Vidler recently played in the T20 Max in Queensland for Valley, the eventual winners of the tournament. However, last week, scans revealed a partial fracture in the 19-year-old's L3 vertebrae.

Queensland general manager of high performance Joe Dawes said that Vidler is disappointed to miss out on the India tour.

"Callum experienced some back pain during training and promptly reported it," Dawes said. "Unfortunately, the scans came back confirming a stress fracture so he will spend some time recovering and then start a rehab plan. He's naturally very disappointed but accepts that injuries are part of the game. We'll work closely with him to ensure he has the best recovery to get him ready for a return to cricket."
