Sonny Baker gave a fabulous performance with the ball for the Manchester Originals as the side defeated Northern Superchargers by a big margin of 57 runs in the Hundred. The 21-year-old took a brilliant hat-trick in the clash, playing a key role in the Originals' victory on Sunday. This saw Baker become just the fourth bowler to take a hat-trick in the tournament after Sam Curran, Imran Tahir and Tymal Mills.
Baker first dismissed Dawid Malan on the 50th delivery of the innings before racking up the wickets of Tom Lawes and Jacob Duffy on consecutive deliveries. The pacer finished with figures of 3/21 and was the one who took the final scalp of the match as the Superchargers got dismissed for just 114 runs while chasing down the target of 172.

Baker was assisted well by Josh Tongue in the bowling department as the latter also ended up picking three scalps. Elsewhere, both Rachin Ravindra and Noor Ahmad also picked up two scalps each as the opposing batters struggled a lot.
Earlier, Jos Buttler's fine inning of 64 runs from 45 deliveries combined with Heinrich Klaasen's unbeaten half-century saw the Originals post a total of 171/3 on the board after 100 deliveries. In reply, the Superchargers failed to get going and lost wickets on regular intervals. Except for David Miller (38), no other batter was able to post a score of over 30 as the side got dismissed cheaply.
This was just the second victory of the season for the Originals and it saw them move to the fifth place on the standings with with 8 points. On the other hand, Superchargers lost their second match of the campaign and currently stand third on the table with 12 points.
Baker has been called-up to England's ODI and T20I squads
Meanwhile, Baker had recently received his maiden call-up to the England senior team. He has been picked in the Three Lions' squad for the ODI series against South Africa and the T20I series against Ireland and will be hoping to make his debut in both the formats.
