Amir Jangoo dropped a career-defining knock on the third of the first Test match against Sri Lanka, guiding West Indies to a strong position with a brilliant unbeaten double century. Playing at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, the 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batter stayed unbeaten on 226 off 370 balls after 149 overs of the hosts' first innings. His marvelous knock consisted of 19 fours and two sixes.

Amir managed to etch his name into the record books with his unbeaten 226, scoring his highest individual score by a West Indies batter in the history of the ICC World Test Championship.

Earlier the record of scoring highest individual score for West Indies belonged to Kyle Mayers. The left-handed all-rounder had managed to unbeaten 210 off 310 balls during the remarkable effort in the first innings against Bangladesh in Chattogram in February 2021.

Jangoo has now joined an elite list of West Indies batters to score a double century in a WTC match, Before his record-breaking inning, only Kyle Myers and Justin Greaves had achieved the feat for the Caribbean side.
Greaves remained not out on after scoring 202 against New Zealand in Christchurch in December 2025. On the other hand, the overall record for the highest individual score in WTC history belongs to Australia's David Warner, who smashed unbeaten 335 against Pakistan in Adelaide in 2019.
