In the Women's Under 23 One Day Trophy match between Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh, Ayushi Soni scripted history as she joined an elite list of woman batters to score a double century in 50-over cricket. Ayushi Soni, who is a 23-year-old batter from Delhi, played an astonishing innings of 234 not out in 154 balls at the Maharana Pratap College Ground on February 7 (Wednesday). During her record-shattering knock, Ayushi smashed 21 fours and four sixes that propelled Delhi to a monumental total of 410/4 in 50 overs.
Ayushi walked out to bat at No.3 after Delhi had lost a wicket in the opening over of the match. Batting first, Delhi found themselves in a sort of bother with 5/1 after 1 over. Ayushi took centerstage and absorbed the pressure, which only heightened after the team lost another wicket with only 22 runs on the board.
Ayushi steadies Delhi's innings
Ayushi registered an 87-run partnership for the third wicket with Pratika, who contributed just 23 runs to the alliance. The 23-year-old right-handed batter continued to stamp her authority on the game and forged another good partnership of 78 runs for the fourth wicket with Deeksha, who contributed 28 runs to the alliance.
For the fifth wicket, Ayushi found a solid partner in Ekta Bhadanam who remained unbeaten and scored 88 runs off 77 balls. Ayushi and Ekta combined for a gigantic partnership of 223 runs in just 26.5 overs.
Delhi register a huge win
After Ayushi's masterclass with the bat, Madhu sizzled for Delhi with the ball and claimed five wickets as Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out for a paltry 62 runs in 39.2 overs. As a result, Delhi registered a massive win by a margin of 348 runs. Only one Arunachal batter managed to score in double digits while all the other 10 batters failed to breach even the 10-run mark.
