Taking a knee has become a tradition in the sporting world as players have gathered to unite and fight against racism. Whether it is a Premier League game or a cricket match, we have witnessed players taking to the knee. To fight this issue several measures have been implemented. The government of England has amended a law as racism has become a serious issue in the country.

Azeem Rafiq, who represented Yorkshire in county cricket brought the issue of racism into notice. Rafiq is once again the epicenter of the sporting world as he made his emotions felt on Twitter, suggesting he was hurt by Joe Root’s latest comments on racism. Both Root and Rafiq have represented Yorkshire, a record 33-time County champion.

The Karachi born off-spinner was quick to address his emotions after Root issued a statement saying that he was unaware of racism in the club.

"These events have fractured our game and torn lives apart. I want to see change and actions that will see Yorkshire County Cricket Club rise from this with a culture that harnesses a diverse environment with trust across all communities that support cricket in the county," the England skipper had shared his statement on Twitter.

Rafiq who holds an English citizenship, came up with a tweet of his own stating, "Disappointed is not even the feeling. Incredibly hurt. But uncomfortable truths are hard to accept it seems."

After a deep investigation no evidence was found regarding the racism he faced during his time at the club. However, certain aspects of the allegations have been found true and the consequences of it have resulted in resignation of the club’s chief executive Mark Arthur. The Leeds-based club will no longer host international cricket as Headingley will be closed until further investigation.
