Talha Jubair's appointment came after Shaun Tait's sudden resignation

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named former national fast bowler Talha Jubair as the team's new pace bowling coach for the upcoming series against Australia. The coaching shake-up came after the previous bowling coach, Shaun Tait, stepped down from his position. The BCB announced via an official press release that the former Australian speedster resigned from the role due to personal family reasons.

Talha Jubair appointed Bangladesh pace bowling coach

The confirmation of Talha’s appointment was made on June 4 by BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Shahreer Nafees. The homegrown former pacer will now step in to lead the bowling unit as they prepare for the challenging assignment against the Australians.

“Since informing the BCB of his circumstances, Shaun had expressed his willingness to continue in the role with a shortened time. However, it was ultimately agreed that stepping down from the position was the most appropriate course of action. The decision has been reached amicably and with mutual understanding,” BCB's statement read.

Shaun Tait's sudden resignation leaves everyone surprised

During his tenure, Shaun Tait oversaw a highly productive period for Bangladesh's pace bowling unit. The former Australian speedster played a pivotal role in nurturing the country's fast-bowling stocks, most notably accelerating the development of Nahid Rana, who emerged as one of the nation's most exciting and promising young speed talents under his guidance. Leaving the position was not an easy choice for Tait, who described his decision to step down as a very difficult one.

With Talha Jubair now at the helm of the fast bowlers, Bangladesh is set to begin their official preparation camp for the high-profile series on June 6. The home side won't have to wait long for their opponents to land, as the Australian squad is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Friday afternoon for a white-ball tour that features three ODIs and three T20Is.

“It has been a privilege to work with the Bangladesh National Team and to be part of a talented and committed group of players and support staff. This was not an easy decision, and I sincerely appreciate the understanding and support shown by the BCB throughout our discussions. I am proud of what the pace bowlers have achieved and I believe they have an exciting future ahead. I wish the team every success going forward,” Tait said as quoted by BCB.
