He wants to work with the government in order to bring reform.

Officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board stated on Thursday, August 15, that board president Nazmul Hassan is prepared to resign in order to work with the government to bring reform in the country. Nazmul, who is currently serving his fourth term as the head of the country's cricket governing body, had been hiding with his wife in London ever since the student protests against the Sheikh Hasina government, which had just been toppled, began. Since he has fled the country, he is willing to step down from his position. A few other influential board directors, including those who are believed to have Sheikh Hasina's support, have also been hiding since August 5.

Since the BCB is currently the subject of a lot of discussion in the country's sporting community, it was discovered that a few board directors who are staying in Dhaka met on August 14 to discuss their next steps. In the last few days, several former officials and organizers of the cricket board have made their way to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to demand that the Nazmul-led panel from the board resign.

"One of our directors is in touch with him and, according to him, Papon bhai is ready to cooperate (with the government) and is also prepared to quit from the President's post to bring reform in the board" a BCB director, who attended the meeting, told Cricbuzz on Thursday.

Another director of the BCB who attended the meeting echoed the same sentiment and added that the interim government will need to fully cooperate if the board is run by an elected body in the future. Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud recently met with BCB officials to determine whether the board can appoint an interim head in accordance with the ICC's guidelines. The BCB directors are concerned that their resignation could have an impact on the Women's T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh in October this year. The current board's term ends in October 2025.

It was discovered that the BCB had sought guidance from the legal team regarding how to manage the board given the current absence of many directors. It is also understood that they regularly communicate with interim government officials to inform them of their strategy. A veteran director, who is also a member of the current board, attempted to explain the BCB's future on the condition of anonymity.
