The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) Mini Auction 2024 is set to take place in Dubai on Tuesday, December 19, marking the first time the IPL auction will be held abroad. With 1166 players registering for the 2024 auction, 77 slots are up for grabs, including 30 for foreign players. The 10 participating teams are prepared to collectively spend Rs 262.95 crore.

Notable World Cup-winning players like Travis Head, captain Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc, each with a base price of Rs 2 crore, are expected to be part of the auction. Additionally, emerging talent Rachin Ravindra from New Zealand, who showcased excellent performance in the 2023 World Cup with 543 runs and 5 wickets in 10 matches, comes with a base price of Rs 50 lakh.

The IPL committee has finalised a list of players for the 2024 auction, following the deadline for franchise retain and release lists on November 26. Significant transfers occurred during the trading window, including the transfer of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians for Rs 15 crore. Cameron Green moved from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 17.50 crore. A total of 173 players were retained during this process.

After the transfer of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans possess the highest budget for the auction, with Rs 38.15 crore. Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals follow with Rs 31.4 crore and Rs 28.95 crore, respectively, adding to the anticipation and excitement for the upcoming IPL season.

Other prominent players who have chosen the highest base price are South Africa's Gerald Coetzee, England's explosive batter Harry Brook, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, and Kedar Jadhav. After releasing several players last month, the 10 franchises have a maximum of 77 slots to fill including 30 overseas players. Starc and Head will be making a comeback in the IPL after a long hiatus.
