The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is actively working to strengthen the country's fast-bowling talent pool. As part of this initiative, BCCI recently hosted a fast-bowling development camp at Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The camp brought together 22 promising fast bowlers, including 14 senior players and eight from the Under-19 age group. The program focused on a wide range of areas crucial to a pacer's development, with a strong emphasis on technique, physical fitness, and tactical understanding.

The camp's activities included comprehensive fitness and physical evaluations. However, a significant portion of the training was dedicated to refining bowling actions and enhancing strategic game awareness. Troy Cooley, the fast bowling coach at the NCA, oversaw the camp and provided personalized feedback to each bowler. He guided them through a series of skill-based drills and game-scenario training sessions, helping them fine-tune their craft.

The need for a robust pace pipeline was highlighted by recent events. While India's pace attack has grown significantly over the last few decades—particularly during the tenures of coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, and captain Virat Kohli—the depth of the fast-bowling reserves was tested during the recent Test series against England. Injuries to key players like Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh forced the team to call up Anshul Kamboj, who had a challenging debut, underscoring the importance of having a continuous stream of ready-to-go fast bowlers.

Among the attendees were Harshit Rana and Anshul Kamboj. Harshit was recently competing in the Delhi Premier League, while Anshul, who reportedly sustained an injury during his international debut in the fourth Test against England, appeared to be fully fit. The camp also featured a mix of other talented pacers from across the country. From Delhi, Simarjeet Singh was seen alongside Harshit. Representing Mumbai were Tushar Deshpande and the pace-bowling all-rounder, Suryansh Shedge. Gurjapneet Singh, a tall pacer from Tamil Nadu, and Yudhvir Singh Charak from Kashmir were also in attendance. Yudhvir's presence was particularly notable, as he was recently included in the Centre of Excellence's High-Performance Monitoring Programme for the 2025-26 season. Interestingly, the video also showed spinners Suyash Sharma and batter Shreyas Iyer at the camp.
