England Cricket Board (ECB) announced the 17-member squad for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan which is scheduled to start from 7 October to 28 October later this year. Ben Stokes who is currently on the road to recovery from calf injury will lead the side in three Test match series.
Durham's speedster Brydon Carse and Essex's wicketkeeper batter got their maiden call-up for the Test series against Pakistan. Spinners Rehan Ahmed and Jack Leach who were out from the Test side also returned into the Ben Stokes-led side.
England are currently on number six in the World Test Championship Points Table tally. They have played 16 matches in the current WTC cycle where they won eight and lost seven and one match ended as a draw. Ben Stokes & Co. will look to win this upcoming Test series to keep their hopes alive for the World Test Championship Final which will take place in England on June next year.
Kent opener Zak Crawley returns to the squad after missing out since the West Indies series in July. The 26-year-old, who fractured his right little finger at Edgbaston in July, is making significant progress in his recovery to earn selection. The venues for the three-match series are yet to be confirmed, with an announcement expected from the Pakistan Cricket Board later this week.

However, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi said that the Test matches between England and Pakistan will take place in Multan International Cricket Stadium, National Stadium Karachi and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium respectively.

England and Pakistan played 88 Test matches against each other where England holds the edge by winning 28 matches and Pakistan won 21. 39 matches between Pakistan and England ended as a draw.
