Chris Gayle lauds MS Dhoni's captaincy

While recognizing the achievements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Gayle described Dhoni as the trendsetter who set the benchmark for Indian captaincy.

Dhoni's trophy cabinet

Dhoni's illustrious career is highlighted by his remarkable success as captain. He is the only Indian skipper to win all three ICC trophies in white-ball cricket: the T20 World Cup (2007), the ODI World Cup (2011), and the Champions Trophy (2013). Dhoni captained India in a record number of international matches, including 200 ODIs. His captaincy record is impressive, with India securing 110 victories and 74 losses in ODIs. Overall, Dhoni led India in 332 matches across all formats, winning 178 and losing 120.

Gayle's endorsement further solidifies Dhoni's reputation as one of the greatest captains in cricket history. His leadership qualities, tactical acumen, and ability to inspire his team have left an indelible mark on Indian cricket.

Chris Gayle's take on tough bowlers

Gayle also shared his take on the toughest bowler he has faced. In a lighthearted manner, Gayle admitted that he finds it difficult to pinpoint a specific bowler as the toughest. He emphasized that every bowler poses a challenge, as even the most unexpected delivery can result in a wicket.

While acknowledging the skill and determination of bowlers, Gayle confidently asserted that he, as the "Universe Boss," is tougher than any bowler he has encountered. His playful response reflects his self-assured nature and his belief in his own batting prowess.

“The toughest bowler, is he born or is he still alive? I’m not sure. So, all bowlers are tough because every bowler tries and gets a chance to pick a wicket,” Gayle cheekily replied.

“Every baller can actually just take one ball to get here, but at the same time, it’s fun going up against some quality top-class fast bowlers and spinners as well. Every bowler is pretty much tough, but the ‘Universe Boss’ is just tougher,” he added.

Chris Gayle Joins Gujarat Giants in Legends League

Gayle, is currently making waves in the Legends League Cricket, representing the Gujarat Giants. The left-handed batter has expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament and has been impressed by the high caliber of retired players participating in the league.

“I’ve been around for a month now and this is my first game. I joined the tournament late, but it was actually good fun last year and a bit of rain interrupted the tournament this year as well. So, I’ve been a setback with a wicked as well, low scoring as well; I want to see more entertainment. Hopefully they can work on that but overall, there are some quality retired places.

“So, it’s fantastic to actually be a part of this once again and to share a dressing room with the likes of Shikar Dhawan. Legends League is actually making up movements,” Gayle concluded.
