The Ashes 2025-26 will begin on November 21.

Cricket Australia on October 16 announced the schedule for Ashes 2025-26. The tournament opener will be played at Perth Stadium. This is the first time since 1978, Perth will host the opening match of Ashes. The announcement comes more than a year before the Ashes 2025-26 begins.

This is also the first time Perth Stadium will host an Ashes match. Earlier, WACA Ground in Perth has hosted 14 Ashes games. Perth will become Australia's eighth Ashes venue to host the opening Ashes game. For more than four decades, The Gabba in Brisbane has been hosting the series opener.

Venue for pink-ball Test changed too

In addition, The Gabba will host the pink-ball day/night Test instead of the Adelaide Oval. Chief selector George Bailey talked about pink-ball Test’s relevance as well.

"If you look at the next generation of players coming through, we haven't played pink-ball cricket domestically for a period of time so do you risk losing that competitive advantage if you don't keep exposing them?" Bailey told cricket.com.au.

"If Australia is going to be a country that wants to keep pursuing day-night cricket then you want to make it as strong a competitive advantage as you can.

"And secondly, if we're going to keep playing at these venues (Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart) in day-night Test matches you want to give curators there a chance to work out how they make the best wickets for that format."

Australia’s dominance at home against England

Australia have retained the Test series since winning at home in the 2017-18 season. England were beaten 4-0 in the last Ashes on Australian soil. The last time England won a Test in Australia was in 2011. They have played 15 Tests since in Australia.
