Deepti Sharma sends warning to Pakistan ahead of India's Asia Cup clash

Deepti Sharma has delivered a confident message ahead of the Women’s Asia Cup Group A encounter against Pakistan. The Indian all-rounder has sent a clear warning to the opponents as they seek momentum at the knockouts, having already booked their spot in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Speaking ahead of the match in Dubai on Saturday, 5 September 2026, Sharma said the side’s success against Pakistan in recent years stemmed from better execution rather than any psychological edge. She said, as quoted by PTI:

“Whatever we have won against them, whether it is the Asia Cup or any other matches, we are always one step ahead of them.”

India has been one of the most successful teams in the Asia Cup. The team has also dominated against their traditional arch rivals, having won 14 of the 17 meetings. Meanwhile, India have already secured a semi-final berth after victories over Thailand and Hong Kong and sit at the top of their group.

The team remains unbeaten against Pakistan in women’s ODIs and has not lost a T20I to them since October 2022. Sharma, who has taken six wickets in two matches at an average of 1.5, also praised the spin attack, highlighting the form of Sree Charani and Prema Rawat.

Sharma stressed that the focus remains on playing compact, balanced cricket as a unit rather than on the opposition. The India-Pakistan fixture is scheduled for later today in Dubai, with the hosts aiming to finish the group stage strongly.
