Pretoria Capitals outclassed Sunrisers Eastern Cape with a seven-wicket win in Qualifier 1 to make it to SA20 2025-26 final. Bryce Parsons' all-round show and Dewald Brevis' unbeaten 38-ball 75 got Capitals over the line with nine balls to spare at Kingsmead, Durban on January 21.
Bairstow scores fifty
Sunrisers Easter Cape skipper Tristan Stubbs won the toss and opted to bat first. Roston Chase took a beating in the powerplay overs but got the prized wicket of Quinton de Kock in the fourth over for a 15-ball 19. After the powerplay overs, Sunrisers were 49/1. Jonny Bairstow and Jordan Hermann accelerated in the middle overs. Sunrisers got to 84/1 after the halfway mark. In the 12th over, Bairstow reached his fifty from 35 balls, his third of the season.

Parsons derails Sunrisers in slog overs
Skipper Keshav Maharaj got the breakthrough with Bairstow's wicket in the 13th over. Parsons was introduced into the attack in the 15th over. He knocked over Hermann for a 30-ball 41. On the last ball of his spell, Maharaj dismissed Marco Jansen. Parsons continued and got Chris Green stumped. In the penultimate over, he got the better of Matthew Breetzke as well. In the final over, James Coles hit two sixes and a four before getting run out. Sunrisers managed to post 170/7 on the board.
Parsons’ anchor knock, Brevis’ late carnage
In the run chase, Capitals lost Shai Hope's wicket to Lewis Gregory in the second over. After the powerplay overs, Capitals had 46/1 on the board. In the eighth over, Green knocked over Connor Esterhuizen for a 19-ball 22. Brevis and Parsons pushed the scoring rate in the middle overs. They kept up with the required run rate with timely boundaries. In the 16th over, Parsons reached his fifty from 40 balls and followed it up with a six. In the next over, Brevis reached his fifty in style with a six. He took 30 balls to reach the fifty-run mark.
In the 18th over, Anrich Nortje staged Sunrisers' comeback with the wicket of Parsons. He scored 60 runs from 44 balls. 18 runs were needed off the last two overs but Brevis was in a hurry to finish the run chase. He hit Gregory for three huge sixes to finish the run chase. Brevis remained unbeaten for 75 off just 38 balls. His knock was laced with seven sixes and eight fours. This is highest score of SA20 career.
