In an unprecedented move, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to host its 2024 auction outside India for the first time as Dubai has been confirmed as the venue for the glitzy league's mini-auction. The IPL 2023 mini-auction is scheduled to take place on December 19, introducing a fresh international flavor to the league's bidding war. Franchises are preparing to submit their lists of retained players by the November 26 deadline, as anticipation builds for the grand event.

The upcoming auction will also see an increment in the salary purse for each team, now standing at a hefty Rs 100 crore, which is Rs 5 crore more than what was allocated in the previous season. This boost in budget reflects the growing stature and the financial muscle of the league, as teams vie to build their dream rosters.
IPL's marquee auction will coincide with another major cricketing event, as India take on South Africa in the second ODI at St George's Park in Gqeberha, offering fans a double dose of cricket excitement.
Adding to the thrill, Australia's premier fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, has expressed his intention to return to the IPL arena after a hiatus, signaling his availability for the upcoming season. His participation is expected to ignite fierce competition among franchises seeking to bolster their bowling attack.
Right before the IPL 2024 auction, Romario Shepherd has already made headlines with his move to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) through the ongoing TATA IPL trading window. The all-rounder, who has experience playing for LSG as well as Sunrisers Hyderabad in his four IPL outings, joins MI with his existing contract price of INR 50 Lakh.
